Local Attractions
With the Marriott and Westin both being in the heart of Indianapolis , there will be no shortage of places to go and things to see during CRLC. Aside from Indianapolis ' sport scene, there are plenty of attractions to keep you busy. Below are a few of the highlights:
Circle Center Mall : If you want to go shopping, you've picked a great area. There are more than 200 shops to choose from, and there is no place better to go to than this s hopping, dining, and entertainment complex reminiscent of a European street market but located in the heart of downtown. Featuring stores such as Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle, Hollister, H&M, Banana Republic, and Forever 21, there is a little bit of something for everyone.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway (tours/transportation available from 3:30-5:30 on Saturday Afternoon): Calling all race fans! Take a lap around the world-famous home to both the Indy 500 and Brickyard 400. See the famous finish line made entirely of bricks while feeling the aura the 2 ½ mile oval emits. This is without a doubt a once-in-a-lifetime experience! PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED
NCAA Hall of Champions : Now, if you can't get enough of sports while you're visiting Indianapolis , you will definitely want to stop by this venue. The NCAA Hall of Champions is designed to create an appreciation for the trials and triumphs of the student-athlete. To that end, all of the exhibits interactively engage visitors and create a true-to-life understanding of just what it takes to make the cut.
SPEED at the Indiana State Museum : In addition to all that the state museum has to offer, SPEED takes you on a high-velocity plunge into horizon-stretching, barrier-smashing motion! Let yourself be inspired by stories of people in the worlds of sports and entertainment who push the envelope of acceleration. Hands-on activities will transport you to the limits of speed. Design your own roller coaster or race car, test your reaction time and stop a virtual train. Compete against friends and find out just how fast is too fast!
Roman Art from the Louve at the Indianapolis Museum of Art : If sports and shopping aren't your cup of tea, n early 200 magnificent examples of Roman art from the unsurpassed collection of the Mus e de Louvre are making their first stop in the United States at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Through mosaics, frescoes, terracotta statuettes, monumental sculptures, marble reliefs, and glass and metal vessels, explore both public and private Roman life. The works date from the first century BC to the early fourth century AD-the time of the great Republic's collapse and the famed Empire's triumphant emergence.
Restaurants : All that running around will definitely make you hungry right? Fortunately for you, Downtown Indy has incredible restaurants for just about every type of cuisine. Check out P.F. Chang's if you're up for some Asian flair, Buca di Beppo if pasta is on your mind, or Champions Sports Bar (In the lobby of the Marriott!) if you just can't stop getting your game on. There are also amazing steakhouses such as Ruth's Chris Steak House and St. Elmo Steak House, with the Hard Rock Café just making this diverse mix even better.
